The Life and Times of Lik Lik Blinky

By Christina Schiller, 18, runner-up for ALCA Youth Ambassador and winner of a Tocal "PROfarm" two-day stock assess course.

Lik Lik Blinky Champion Australian Lowline

Lik Lik Blinky. Born: 25/6/2006. Dam: Vitulus Xciting. Sire: Vitulus Gambler
Well what a year for Blinky and Lik Lik Lowlines and the Pittsworth State High School students involving in preparing and showing our cattle
(except for Allambie Abbadine who was my responsibility).
Blinky was a slow starter on the show scene gaining 2nd + 3rds in 2007. 2008 has seen him shine with five grand champions in a row: Toowoomba Royal Show, Boonah Show (Lowlines were the feature breed), Toogoolawah Show, Laidley Show and the one Mum really wanted, the Brisbane Royal Show.
Blinky loves the show ring, he always stands square as if to say "Look at me. Aren't I fantastic', but he's not so keen on all the preparation that goes on before hand. He doesn't like people fussing around him and when all else fails a big rub on the forehead calms him down.
Blinky's first calves are on the ground with the first being born just before the Brisbane Royal Show and let's hope they do as well as he has. Blinky's full brother, Lik Lik Commander-in-Chief (8/8/2007) is following in Blinky's footsteps and his full brother/sister is due very soon. Blinky and I can't wait for the arrival. Our plans for next year are Sydney Royal (if Mum can get the time off), Beef 2009 and Brisbane Royal. Fingers crossed for a successful 2009.
