AUSTRALIAN LOWLINE CATTLE ARE FEATURED BREED AT
2010 SYDNEY ROYAL EASTER SHOW
John Rowe says: "Let's make it the BIGGEST and the BEST Australian Lowline event EVER."
ALCA Council has already communicated some preliminary information to members about our 2010 Sydney feature breed event and that it is an event that we can all help make the BIGGEST AND BEST event ever for our Australian Lowline Cattle.
Much discussion and a lot of work has already gone in to this activity and all Council members are heavily involved. The project team for Sydney 2010 is headed up by Keith Smith and Tammy Breuer who are the two councillors closest to and most familiar with Sydney and the NSW Royal Ag Society.
Keith has recently prepared a detailed outline of the activities to be included in the event and the principal responsibilities to be addressed by Council to make sure it is successful. We don't intend to be modest in our promotion of our breed and our aim for Sydney 2010 is concisely stated as '"To promote the use of Australian Lowline Cattle in the cattle industry both in Australia and overseas."
Whilst this appears simple and modest IT IS NOT and we will all ensure that a lot of appropriate and very visible promotion takes place before, during and after the event.
Keith Smith's proposals will be the focus of a planning discussion involving all councillors at a face to face meeting in early September, 2008 from which we expect to finalise the schedule of activities and the critical path of responsibilities, actions and communications necessary to make Sydney 2010 a most successful event.
We hope to attract many Australian and New Zealand entries( we know of one NZ and one US participant already) and participants and visitors from all parts of Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, China, Japan, South East Asia, England, Ireland and other parts of Europe and South America. A tall order but there will be plenty of interest and information at Sydney 2010 as well as opportunities for associated stud tours and other appropriate activities.
Events at Sydney 2010, apart from a major display of the best of our breed and their judging, will include Lowline exhibits in the Hoof and Hook competition, Junior member events, a get together function for Exhibitors and Guests, a drop in and promotional area, a formal dinner and lots of opportunity for informal socialisation during, before and after Sydney 2010. A number of packages of activities of interest to Lowline breeders and Lowline fans will be available.
Travel assistance and accommodation suggestions will be available to exhibitors and we will advise more as these become available.
We will keep you advised as more developments occur but also note that we hope to develop interesting opportunities and a significant ALCA presence around Sydney 2009, National Beef at Bendigo 2009, Beef Australia 2009 at Rockhampton (all in April/May 2009) and Sydney 2010 and National Beef at Bendigo 2010 (April/May 2010) which could be linked in to some organised stud tours for interested participants.
Please let Council have your ideas to make Sydney even better in 2010. John Rowe
